Dr. John Mauldin

I am a blue-eyed, silver haired, one leg thinker who believes that change is a positive part of life, all problems have solutions in their own time, the environment must be respected or it will hurt you, and that most people are good when they know it is important to be.

I enjoy learning from anyone who has mastered the patterns within their field and has ventured to apply their learning to everything else. I have never found any trouble understanding the words people use when they really want to talk. These people have realized, as I have, that everything is connected and works based on the same rules. It does not matter what type of car you ride in to the prom, as long as you get there.

I love people who have a passion about anything. I find they are the people who can't wait to tell you about their garden or their car. They are patient and kind toward the less fortunate who have no passion, because they know; and I mean KNOW how sad it is with no passion. Passionate people always have a sense of humor. They understand the process.

They know that things don't always work, but if you work at it, don't give up, you can find a way to succeed.  They are not afraid to push through the hard times. I love 'em.

I like my friends diverse. It is stimulating to have people with different ideas, different knowledge, and different sets of understanding. It doesn't matter what they bring to the table as long as they come. The world is full of new friends.

I do not care much about impersonal bureaucratic patterns. These patterns become isolated and do not understand how to relate people. I prefer small groups who organize because they believe something should be done and they can do it. When these groups get too large, passion is lost and so are the good people. What is left is the impersonal bureaucratic pattern.

I love to watch children - do anything. They are so intent and excited about learning the structural patterns of the world that their passions spill over and melt the hardest heart. This ability comes from their desire to give and receive love. This exchange is so simple and natural that it banishes deceit. Adults, who don't like children, never were children.

Finally, I believe that hope is the perfect cure. When people lose hope, they will do anything no matter how depraved to get what they want. It is not only weak or poor people who lose hope, but the powerful and strong who travel too far from their original pattern. They give up on the solution and sell indulgences for the problem. A person who holds hope can find a passion, learn a discipline, and recover positive healthy life patterns.
